A business delegation led by European Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister Alexander Stubb will visit Yekaterinburg in Russia from June 4 to 6 to find ways for promoting business opportunities, said a government press release.
 
The delegation will consist of about 60 representatives of Finnish companies and organisations as well as the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce.
 
Representatives from different sector including construction, energy, cleantech, food and foodstuff industry, education, tourism and trade sectors will be included in the Team Finland export promotion.
 
Yekaterinburg is the administrative centre of the Sverdlovsk Oblast and the centre of the administration, business life and culture in the Urals region.
 
Finland has developed its cooperation relations with various regions of Russia in a comprehensive manner.
 
Yekaterinburg is the fourth biggest among 15 cities with more than a million inhabitants in Russia. The Sverdlovsk Oblast is one of the most dynamic industrial centres in Russia, known particularly for refining of metals, mining industry, mechanical engineering, and its excellent logistical location.
 
Besides promoting business opportunities for Finnish companies in Russia, the purpose of the Team Finland trip is to enhance the status of Finnish companies already operating in the area, deepen the existing long-term cooperation relationships, and encourage establishment of new contacts.
 
Interesting sectors for cooperation include logistics and transport, construction and building maintenance, energy efficiency and the environment sector, metal industry and industrial equipment, mining industry, as well as services, trade and tourism.
 
Minister Stubb, during the visit, will open Finnish Business in Yekaterinburg business forum with governor of the Sverdlovsk Oblast Yevgeny Kuyvashev.
 
He will meet leaders of the Sverdlovsk Oblast administration and the City of Yekaterinburg. The Minister will also discuss with the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian President in the Urals Federal District Igor Holmanskih and will give a lecture at Ural Federal University.
 
He will also visit Uralelectromed, a company involved in mining and metallurgical sector and partly owned by Outotec and will participate in the laying of the foundation stone at a YIT construction site and opening of Finland's visa centre.
 
In addition, a meeting of the regional working group of Finland and the Sverdlovsk Oblast, operating under the Finnish-Russian Economic Commission, will be held during the visit.
