The sum of wages and salaries of the whole economy was 1.7 per cent higher in the past February to April period than in the corresponding period of the previous year, according to the Statistics Finland.
It said the sum of wages and salaries of the whole economy grew by 3.1 per cent since last year in the month of April alone.
In the February to April period a year ago, the sum grew by 4.5 per cent.
In the February to April period, the development of the sum of wages and salaries was weaker in all main industries than a year earlier.
The sum of wages and salaries grew fastest in private health and social work services (+6.1%). The development of the sum of wages and salaries was weakest in the private educational services sector (-0.5%).
The sum of wages and salaries refers to the sum total of the gross wages and salaries paid to employees without incentive stock options. The wages and salaries sum is influenced by changes in employment and in the earnings level of wage and salary earners.
