The wages and salaries of the whole economy was 1.2 per cent greater in the past June to August period than in the corresponding period of the previous year, according to the Statistics Finland.
 
In August alone, the wages and salaries’ amount of the whole economy grew by 1.8 per cent year-on-year, said a press release.
 
In the June to August period one year ago, the amount of wages and salaries grew by 3.8 per cent.
 
The wages and salaries grew in the June to August period in all main industries with the exception of manufacturing (-3.7 %) and education services provided by the private sector (-0.2 %).
 
In the most recent three-month period, growth in the wages and salaries remained under three per cent in all main industries, except for the wages and salaries of private health and social work services, which grew by 5.9 per cent in the June to August period from the comparison period of one year ago.
 
The wages and salaries’ amount refer to the sum total of the gross wages and salaries paid to employees without incentive stock options.
 
The wages and salaries’ amount is influenced by changes in employment and in the earnings level of wage and salary earners, said the release.
