Terming the number as high, SAK said the figure was still on the upper end and similar to the year 2012 when 15,800 people lost their jobs.
The SAK statistics also said the figures were still lower than that of 2009, when the highest 20,000 people faced the axe.
Matti Tukiainen, a senior official in charge of economic development affairs of SAK, expressed fears that jobs were going to be lost this year as well, with the retail and other service industries especially posing a big threat to the industries.
Co-determination between employers and employees negotiated on the situation of about 120,000 employees during last year.
