Producer prices for manufactured products went down by an average of 0.8 per cent in last December compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, thanks to reductions in the prices of oil products, manufacturing of basic metals and chemicals and chemical products.
According to Statistics Finland, the producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market went down by 0.3 per cent, while the producer prices of export products fell by 1.4 per cent.
Producer prices for manufactured products went down especially due to reductions in the prices of oil products, manufacturing of basic metals and chemicals and chemical products from last year's December.
The falling of producer prices was curbed particularly by higher prices of district heat, machinery and equipment, and wood.
The Export Price Index fell by 1.5 per cent and the Import Price Index by 2.6 per cent in the year. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply went down by 0.9 per cent. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply including taxes went up by 0.1 per cent.
From November to December, producer prices for manufactured products fell by 0.1 per cent. The fall was mainly due to decreased prices of electricity, and paper and board products.
