Source: Statistics Finland.
Producer prices for manufactured products have fallen by an average of 0.9 per cent from January 2013 to January 2014, thanks to reductions in the prices of oil products, manufacturing of basic metals and chemicals and chemical products.

According to Statistics Finland, the producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market went down by 0.3 per cent, while the producer prices of export products fell by 1.6 per cent.

The Statistics Finland data showed that the producer prices for manufactured products went down especially due to reductions in the prices of oil products, manufacturing of basic metals and chemicals and chemical products from last year's January.

The falling of the prices was curbed particularly by higher prices of district heating, wood and machinery and equipment.

The Export Price Index fell by 1.7 per cent and the Import Price Index by 2.9 per cent in the year. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply went down by 1.1 per cent. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply including taxes went down by 0.8 per cent.

Export prices were particularly depressed by the falling prices of manufacturing of basic metals and oil products from January 2013. The falling of the prices was curbed particularly by higher prices of machinery and equipment and wood.

The fall in import prices was in turn especially caused by lower prices of crude oil and manufacturing of basic metals compared with January 2013. The fall in the prices was particularly curbed by risen prices of food.

Producer prices for manufactured goods remained on average unchanged from December 2013 to January 2014.
