The price of milled peat used in heat production was 19 per cent higher in the fourth quarter of the year than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland's data.
The price of forest chippings rose by nearly eight per cent from one year before. However, the prices of transport fuels and light fuel fell, which was partially caused by cheaper crude oil.
Energy taxes for electricity and transport fuels increased from the beginning of the year.

In December, the prices of the Nordic Power Exchange made a downturn of over 20 per cent. The prices of bigger consumers of electricity also made a downturn depending on the tariff category during the same time.
The price of natural gas used in heat production decreased by around one per cent and the price of hard coal dropped by over three per cent compared to that of a year ago.
The price of wood pellets used by consumers increased by almost 12 per cent.
Of transport fuels, the prices of diesel and petrol went down by some three to four per cent, as did the price of light fuel oil in the fourth quarter of 2013 compared to one year earlier, the data says.
