The planned electricity export to Russia slated to begin in April will be delayed by two more months, said sources in the power transmission operator Fingrid.
Fingrid already informed Nord pool – the company that markets electricity – that the export may begin from June 1.
However, the reason behind the delay could not be known. Until now, Finland has only been importing power from Russia, not the other way round.
The doors for the export were opened after technical changes were brought to the power station in Viipuri of Russia.
Electricity of up to 350 megawatts could be exported. Imports from Russia ranges up to 1,300MW.
