First registrations increased by 8.6 per cent in March from the corresponding month of the last year with a total of 15,792 new motor vehicles registered during the period.
 
According to the Statistics Finland, a total of 10,726 of the new motor vehicles registered were automobiles.
 
Meanwhile, the number of new passenger cars registered was 9,626 during the period, which was 1.3 per cent up from the year before.
 
The share of new diesel-driven passenger cars was 38 per cent. These data are based on the Vehicular and Driver Data Register of the Finnish Transport Safety Agency and they have been produced by Statistics Finland.
 
The numbers are exclusive of the vehicles on the Åland Islands.

In the January to March period of 2014 a total of 46,100 vehicles were first registered. Compared to the year before, there was an increase of 10.3 per cent. 
 
The number of passenger cars first registered in the January to March period was 30,503, which is 10.3 per cent up from the year before.
 
The most common passenger car makes first registered in the January to March period were Volkswagen, Toyota and Skoda.
