Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade, Alexander Stubb is scheduled to visit Washington, D.C., on 7-9 April.
 
During the visit, he will have discussions on the EU-US Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership Agreement, and meet high representatives of the US administration, organisations and think-tanks, according to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
Stubb will also meet Ambassador Michael B. Froman, US Trade Representative Daniel Mullaney, Assistant US Trade Representative for Europe and the Middle East John M. Andersen, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Market Access and Compliance in the US Department of Commerce and Congressmen.
 
The Minister and the members of his delegation will also meet representatives of the US employee and employer organisations.
 
The programme will include a debate, organised by the Finnish Embassy and think-tank organisation Centre for Strategic International Studies, where Minister Stubb will be the keynote speaker.
 
During his visit, Stubb will be accompanied by Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee’s vice chair Pertti Salolainen MP, member Mari Kiviniemi MP, CEO of the Confederation of Finnish Industries, Jyri Häkämies, Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners president Juha Marttila, Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions SAK’s Employment and Sustainable Growth director Matti Tukiainen, and SAK’s Chief Economist Olli Koski, said the release issued on April 3.
 
The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership is expected to give a major boost to the economy both in the EU and the United States, according to the EU Commission.
