The year-on-year change in consumer prices remained unchanged in April as calculated by Statistics Finland. 
 
The inflation was 1.1 per cent in March and the percentage was the same in April, according to a release issued on Wednesday. 
 
In April, consumer prices were pushed up most in the year by rent increases, and higher prices of out-patient care and hospital services. 
 
Price increased in restaurant and café services, as well as alcoholic beverages had an effect on inflation.

The rising of consumer prices was curbed most in April by fallen prices of entertainment electronics, food, liquid fuels, and detached houses from one year ago. 
 
From March to April, consumer prices rose by 0.1 per cent.
 
Each mid-month, Statistics Finland's interviewers collect altogether around 50,000 prices on nearly 500 commodities from approximately 2,700 outlets for the Consumer Price Index, said the release. 
 
In addition, some 1,000 items of price data are gathered by centralised collection.  
 
According to preliminary data, inflation in the euro area accelerated to 0.7 per cent in April.
 
The year-on-year change in the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices at Constant Taxes was 0.8 per cent in April. 
 
Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices at Constant Taxes, the inflation measured by Consumer Price Index consists mainly of products and services priced by enterprises and the public sector, value added taxes and commodity taxes, according to the release.
