Only two candidates have so far expressed their interest in heading the Trade Union Pro.

As on Sunday only Janne Kolhonen who acts in the capacity of technical manager at VVO and Jorma Malinen, the planning coordinator at STX Finland had put their names forward.

Malinen is, however, seen as the front runner to succeed Antti Rinne who was recently elected as the chair of the Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party-SDP).

The door is still open for those who wish to contest for the senior most seat in the trade union but the union's recommended deadline was on Sunday.

The new chairperson will be elected in a meeting on Saturday.
