Producer prices for manufactured goods fell last month by an average of 0.5 per cent from the corresponding month in last year due to reductions in the prices of oil products, electricity and paper and board products from last year’s July.
But the fall in producer prices was curbed particularly by increased prices of precious and non-ferrous metals.
According to the Statistics Finland, the producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market went down by 0.5 per cent, while the producer prices of export products fell by 0.4 per cent.
The Export Price Index fell by 0.7 per cent and the Import Price Index by 0.7 per cent in the year. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply went down by 0.7 per cent. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply including taxes fell by 0.5 per cent.
Export prices, in particular, had depressed by the falling prices of oil products and basic iron and steel from July last year. The fall in the prices was particularly checked by the increased prices of precious and non-ferrous metals.
The fall in import prices was in turn especially caused by lower prices of oil products, chemicals and chemical products from last year’s July. The fall in the prices was particularly held back by risen prices of basic precious and non-ferrous metals.
From June to July, producer prices for manufactured products remained unchanged on the average.
