The Prime Minister’s Office has commissioned Anders Borg, a former Swedish finance minister, to prepare a report on Finland’s economic challenges, said a government release on Tuesday.

The report is expected to outline Finland’s future economic policy options.

The report to focus on the next electoral term is to include an overview of the current economic situation and proposals for the main economic policy objectives and associated measures.

The report will be based on reports drawn by various experts in recent years on Finland’s economy, said the release.

The report is expected to be finalised in spring 2015 and then submitted to the Economic Council of Finland for deliberation.

“From close by, it is sometimes difficult to see far enough. Finland’s economic situation and the preconditions for new growth will continue to be difficult over the next few years. The current electoral period has been devoted to efforts to remedy the situation but it is clear that extensive reforms take time. No stone will be left unturned,” said Prime Minister Alexander Stubb in the release.

The premier said evaluation of the economic situation will benefit from an outside view.

Anders Borg acted as Sweden’s minister of finance in 2006 to 2014. In 2011, he topped the Financial Times’ annual ranking of Europe’s best finance ministers.
