The volume of goods transported by lorries went up in the third quarter of 2014, according to Statistics Finland’s data.
 
A total of 77 million tonnes of goods were carried by lorries during the time, which was 11 per cent higher than in the corresponding quarter of 2013.
 
The volume of transported soil materials increased by 23 per cent and the volume of transport for other goods grew by one per cent as per the data derived from the statistics on goods transport by roads.
 
The total transport volume of lorries amounted to 5.2 billion tonne-kilometres in the third quarter of 2014, which was seven per cent more than in the corresponding quarter of one year before.
 
Ninety-two per cent of the transport volume was transported in professional transport and eight per cent in private transport, the statistics show.
