Govt survives another no-confidence motion

The parliament on Friday approved a budget of about 53.9 billion euros for next year, before heading for recess.
 
The parliament session will remain postponed during the recess from December 20 to January 12, parliament sources said.
 
The rubber-stamped budget includes 55 million euros added during the parliamentary handling of the budget.
 
The largest increases in appropriations totalling 19.95 million euros was allocated to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, said the sources.
 
The budget revealed a deficit of 4.7 billion euros which will be covered by additional borrowing.

At the end of 2015, the central government debt is estimated to reach 102 billion euros.
 
The government also received confidence from the parliament on Friday as the MPs voted 100-92. Vihreä Liito (Green League) legislator Tuija Brax abstained from the voting.
 
Speaker Eero Heinäluoma thanked the lawmakers and parliament’s staff for their hard work.
 
The speaker also expressed hope that during the Christmas break each will get a deserved and much needed rest and also focus on the Christmas message.
 
The parliament session resumes on January 13.
