Another Finnish bank, Danske, has joined the league of Nordea and OP Pohjola as its online services went down on Monday.

But the debit and credit cards, ATM cash withdrawals as well as mobile and tablet services of the bank were functioning well.

The disruption was not a case of service-of-denial attack, said Danske Bank Communications Manager Teppo Havo on late Monday night.

Havo had said earlier that the root of the problem seems to be a technical glitch but did not rule out the possibility of a denial-of-service.

Reports which emerged later on Monday evening confirmed that the disruption in Danske Bank’s online services was due to a fault in the bank’s system.

The disorder was detected on Monday morning at around 10:00 a.m.

Meanwhile, OP Pohjola, which went under denial of service attacks on the New Year’s Eve and again on Sunday afternoon, is yet to overcome the problems.

The bank’s chief communications officer, Carina Geber-Teir, confirmed that its customers overseas still had difficulty accessing the bank’s services.

“Our telephone service helps those customers who cannot access services due to the enhanced security,” said Geber-Teir.

OP Pohjola and Nordea have recently been targets of denial-of-service attacks.
