Thu, 15 Jan, 2015 03:43:06 AM FTimes-STT Report, Jan 15 Mobile phone customers should in the future not worry about telemarketing calls for subscription offers from rival operators, according to a report from the Finnish language newspaper Keskisuomalainen. Although the ongoing ban on the telemarketing is scheduled to be withdrawn in early July, the Ministry of Transport and Communications is considering further extension of the ban.
Elisa, DNA and Sonera, which are the major mobile phone operators, are currently prohibited from engaging in telemarketing for new customers from competing operators. According to the Keskisuomalainen, over 857,000 mobile phone number transfers were made last year. The figure was one-fifth more than the transfers made in 2013. The rise in the change was partly due to internal transfers within the same mobile operator. More News
