The Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres) and the Ministry of Employment and the Economy are preparing to cut 220 jobs.
The ministry on Tuesday announced that the statutory negotiations initiated back in September last year have been concluded.
The initial redundancy need was estimated at 470 employees.
Most of the 33 million euro ELY Centres saving needs are intended to cover retirements. Approximately 9 million euros in savings will be realised through redundancies and 4 million euros in savings will be achieved through other means.
The ELY Centres cost-saving measures are part of the government restructuring policy. Furthermore, the EU’s structural funds for technical support are on the wane.
