The eighth round of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations between the European Union (EU) and the United States will be held from Feb. 2 to 6 in Brussels, the European Commission announced here Friday.
The Commission's Directorate General for Trade would take the lead in the negotiations while working closely with other Commission departments. The United States would be represented by the U.S. Trade Representative.
Since the first round of talks in June 2013, the negotiations have continued every few weeks.
According to the European Commission, the aim of the agreement is to create growth and jobs on both sides of the Atlantic by removing trade barriers.
The agreement's main elements would be market access, removing customs duties on goods and restrictions on services, gaining better access to public markets, and making it easier to invest.
