According to Rinne, the European Union countries have 12 days to find a solution on the basis of the current support programme.

“Our starting point is that we have to go forward by this existing programme and its conditions have to be met,” said Rinne while in Brussels.

Greece’s current support programme expires at the end of the month. Greece does not want to apply for an extension and, instead, the country wants a temporary financial arrangement that would allow more time to negotiate a new deal with the creditors.

The Euro zone finance ministers on Monday met in Brussels.

Rinne said currently there is no information about the fact that progress would be made.

EU officials have hinted that there is a possibility that a new support programme for Greece can be negotiated, if an agreement on the current programme cannot be reached.
