FTimes – STT Report, Feb 18

Compensation payments to the customers of the liquidated Air Finland will begin this week, said the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority.

The payments are due to be made until the end of March.

The liquidation of Air Finland took place in the autumn of 2012. The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority processed approximately 3,000 claims relating to the liquidation of airline.

Some of the airline customers were dissatisfied with the decisions and filed appeals with the administrative courts. Some of the rulings by the administrative courts were appealed to the Supreme Administrative Court in the summer of 2014.

The Supreme Administrative Court turned down the last appeals on February 3 paving the way for commencement of payments.

The percentage of compensation to be awarded is approximately 69.5, the same award as in the original decision.
