Rents of residential dwellings increased on an average by 3.2 per cent in 2014 from the year before, according to Statistics Finland’s annual statistics.
Rents of non-subsidised rental dwellings increased as well in the whole country, by an average of 3.3 per cent.
In Greater Helsinki the rents of non-subsidised rental dwellings increased by 5.2 per cent and in the rest of Finland by 2.0 per cent.
The rents of government-subsidised rental dwellings increased by 3.0 per cent in the whole country.
The average rent per square metre of non-subsidised rental dwellings was euro 12.84 in the whole country.
The average rent per square metre for non-subsidised rental dwellings was euro 16.82 in Greater Helsinki and euro 10.92 in the rest of Finland.
The average rent per square metre of government-subsidised rental dwellings was euro 10.96 in the whole country.
In Greater Helsinki it stood at euro 12.00 per square metre and in the rest of Finland at euro 10.41 per square metre.
In Helsinki the rents of non-subsidised rental dwellings increased by 4.9 per cent, in Espoo by 6.8 and in Vantaa by 5.0 per cent, the data show.
In Tampere rents increased by 3.2 per cent, in Jyväskylä by 1.9 per cent and in Turku by 1.9 per cent. In Lahti rents increased by 2.8 per cent and in Kuopio by 3.2 per cent, according to the statistics based on interview data collected in connection with the Labour Force Survey and data obtained from the Social Security Institution’s housing register.
