One of the options deliberated by the parliamentary steering group looking into the matter entails merging the national lottery Vikkaus and Finland’s Slot Machine Association, while totalizator company Fintoto will continue to work independently.
The other alternative is to merge all the three gambling companies.
Päivi Nerg, permanent secretary at the Ministry of the Interior leading the steering group, however, refused to speculate which of the two models will be presented.
Fintoto Director Pekka Soini termed the report necessary but expressed surprise at how fast the work has progressed.
According to Soini, the issue is momentous for all the beneficiaries – the horse industry, sports, youth as well as the third party.
