The value of new orders in manufacturing was 2.5 per cent lower in January 2015 than twelve months earlier, according to Statistics Finland.
 
Before January, new orders grew without interruption over six months and in the chemical and paper industry, the enterprises received more new orders than twelve months ago, the data show.
 
In the chemical industry, orders increased by 2.5 per cent and in the industry of the manufacture of paper and paper board products by 1.8 per cent from one year ago.

In the textile industry, orders went down by 2.9 per cent and in the metal industry by 5.3 per cent year-on-year.
 
The index of new orders in manufacturing describes development in the value of new orders received by enterprises for commodities and services that are meant to be produced by establishments located in Finland, according to the statistics based on non-probability sampling, in which the basic observation unit was an enterprise or a kind-of-activity unit.
