Seija Turunen has been appointed as Chairman of the Board of the state-owned Finnpilot Pilotage Ltd, said a press release of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
 
The appointment was made at the company's general meeting held on Tuesday.
 
"It is wonderful to have a lady who has years of business experience in the marine transport sector as chairman of Finnpilot Pilotage," declared Minister of Transport and Local Government Paula Risikko about the appointment.  
 
Seija Turunen has worked in a variety of roles in both the marine transport and harbour businesses.
 
“I believe that her perspective as Finnpilot's Chairman of the Board will be valuable for the development of the company," the minister continued.  
 
During 1992-2014, Seija Turunen MSc (61) worked with Finnlines in various positions including Deputy CEO and as Managing Director of Finnsteve—part of the Finnlines Group.
 
Her previous positions include various senior management and advisory roles with Kansallis-Osake-Pankki, Midland Montagu Pankki, Finca Oy and with Enso-Gutzeit Oyj.
 
She is currently a Member of the Board of Elisa Oyj and Member of the Supervisory Board of Etera.
 
Finnpilot Pilotage Ltd is a state-owned company that provides a national pilotage service as well as related services in the area of maritime safety and support operations.
