STT said they had received information about the merger proposal from two independent sources, but did not disclose them.
The national lottery Veikkaus, Finland’s Slot Machine Association and the totalizator company Fintoto will be merged under one gaming company.
The future of the gaming companies will be unveiled on Friday when the steering group hands its report over to Minister of the Interior Päivi Räsänen.
However, the current government does not have time to complete the merger. The matter will be handled by the incoming government.
The merger was first deliberated in 2011, but the issue was later abandoned.
