The board of the Finland’s Slot Machine Association-RAY on Thursday decided to forward a proposal to the Ministry of the Interior suggesting that the location of casinos should not be defined by regulation.

In this regard, the regulation concerning the location of the envisaged East Casino should be scrapped.

Therefore, this would allow for the construction of the casino at a location which turns out to be the best.

RAY currently operates a casino in Helsinki, and according to the regulation, the association has the possibility of setting up another casino in Eastern Finland.

“The Helsinki casino will continue its operations, and the question about the second casino will be revisited, possibly after the change of the regulation,” Hanna Tainio, the chair of the board at RAY, stated.

Initially, the casino was planned to be situated in the eastern border town of Vaalimaa; however, the project was rejected last September.

The government handed the regulation on the East Casino more than three years ago.
