The wages and salaries sum of the whole economy was 1.2 per cent higher in December to February than in the corresponding period 12 months earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

The wages and salaries sum of the whole economy grew by 1.3 per cent year-on-year in February alone.

The wages and salaries sum grew by 1.2 per cent in the December to February period one year ago, the data show.

The wages and salaries sum grew in the December to February period in all main industries with the exception of manufacturing, where the wages and salaries sum contracted by 0.4 per cent.

The growth in the wages and salaries sum was fastest in private health and social work being 3.8% and in construction 3.5%.

The wages and salaries sum grew by 1.8 per cent in the private sector year-on-year. 

The wages and salaries sum in the private sector was 1.8 per cent greater in the December to February period than in the respective time period 12 months earlier.

In the public sector, the wages and salaries sum remained on level with the previous year in the latest three-month period.

In February alone, the wages and salaries sum in the private sector grew by 2.0 per cent and did not change in the public sector from twelve months back, according to the statistics.

In the December to February period one year ago the wages and salaries sum grew by 1.3 per cent in the public sector and by 1.4 per cent in the private sector.
