Fri, 24 Apr, 2015 12:05:52 AM FTimes – STT Report, April 24 Posti head office in Helsinki. File Photo – Lehtikuva. The national postal service Posti on Thursday announced that it will begin statutory negotiations with employees of its Posti outlets on 28th of April.
The statutory negotiations are part of a reform process by Posti to expand its service network by about 100 new service outlets in the coming years.
The negotiations will concern 477 employees, confirmed a press release from Posti.
According to Posti, the initial redundancy number is estimated at 380 permanent employees. The changes will be carried out gradually in 2015 to 2018.
People’s mobility, use of time and the type of service they expect are changing. Customers want to visit Posti at the same time while running other errands or shopping in malls.
“According to a survey conducted by TNS Gallup, more than 70 per cent of Finns want Posti outlets to have the same opening hours as shops, that is customers want service in the evenings and on the weekends," said Riku Kuusisto, Vice President in-charge of Posti’s service point network.
Currently, Posti has a total of 98 own outlets, and in the current business environment, the location of postal outlets managed by Posti or flexible opening hours cannot be maintained in a cost-effective manner.
According to Kuusisto, nearly 800 postal outlets accounting to over 90 percent of all postal outlets operate under Posti's partners.
