Finnish textile company Finlayson has decided to end cooperation with department store Kärkkäinen.

According to Finlayson, the decision was taken on ethical and value related reasons.

"The owners of Kärkkäinen department stores are behind Magneettimedia publications. This publication spread hateful and narrow-minded propaganda," said Jukka Kurttila, the executive director of Finlayson in a release.

According to Jukka Kurttila, Finlayson does not want to have cooperation with companies whose values differ so radically with its own values.

"We want more tolerance in Finnish homes than condemnation and diversity be seen as enriching and not a crime. The majority of Finns are with us on this issue," he added.

According to Kurttila, the much debated Tom of Finland model has been a commercial success and served as a form of measure of tolerance.

"It has on its part helped the Finns to discuss sexual freedom openly. We have been pleased that today Finland is an open and tolerant society," he said.
