Recession has complicated operations of many charity organisations, according to the Finnish language news outlet Sunnuntaisuomalainen.

The number of Finnish World Vision sponsors has dropped in recent years and been declining by a couple of hundreds every year.

Normally, helping ceases when income drops, for instance, due to unemployment or studies.

However, not all organisations have been affected by the general economic situation.

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), for instance, has received a record number of supporters this year.
