Prime Minister Juha Sipilä does not want to yet consider Russia's offer in the possible expansion of Loviisa nuclear power project.

The Russian Federation has expressed interest in the building of a third reactor, if one is to be built. The Loviisa nuclear power project houses two Soviet-designed reactors, each with a capacity of 510 megawatt.

According to Sipilä, he has no position on the matter because the Fortrum power company has not asked for government consultation.

"We have not prepared anything for this process," Sipilä told reporters.

He said that he considers the issue to be a normal business offer.

"I don't see this as much more complicated. The process will only begin, if the company presents us something," the prime minister added.

He made a short comment about the deadline for the Fennovoima nuclear power project at the end of this month.

According to the Prime minister, the owners of Fennovoima should give more information by the end of this month.

The new Finnish nuclear power company Fennovoima fell into financial crisis and uncertainty after several shareholders including E On left the project.
