Stephen Elop, executive vice-president of Microsoft devises and services business and a former CEO of Nokia will be leaving Microsoft following a reorganizational move.

A release from the company confirmed that an email had been sent to employees on Wednesday announcing changes to its Senior Leadership Team to drive engineering alignment against the company’s core ambitions.

“We are aligning our engineering efforts and capabilities to deliver on our strategy and, in particular, our three core ambitions,” Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, was quoted as saying in the release.

“This change will enable us to deliver better products and services that our customers love at a more rapid pace,” Nadella added.

Elop was named among other senior figures who will leave Microsoft after a designated transition period.
