The vulnerabilities of video player browser extension Adobe Flash Player have been exploited in websites in the country, according to cyber security expert Tomi Hasu.

Computer users have in the recent weeks fallen victim to ransomware, a malware which locks the hard drive contents for ransom.

According to Hasu, the latest version of Adobe Flash Player is quite secure.

However, according to the information security expert, the use of the browser extension should be avoided.

Recently the video playing programme has been found to have a number of vulnerabilities which led to the released of a Flash Player update by Adobe.

Hasu has advised to prevent the Flash Player from running automatically in web browser settings.

“I choose the circumstances whether to launch the Flash Player or not, it makes the browsing experience a little bit clumsier, but at least I decide for myself,” Hasu said.

On his part, Mikko Hyppönen, Chief Research Officer of F-Secure recommended that every effort should be made to get rid of the Flash Player.

If the browser extension is a necessary need, Hyppönen suggested using the Flasher Player in a separate browser.
