The value of new orders in manufacturing was 5.3 per cent lower in July 2015 than twelve months earlier, according to Statistics Finland’s data.

During January to July, orders grew by 6.8 per cent year-on-year.

Enterprises received more orders than twelve months ago in July in the textile industry, where orders increased by 30.9 per cent year-on-year, the statistics show.

 In the industry of the manufacture of paper and paper board products, orders grew by 3.2 per from one year ago.

In the chemical industry, new orders decreased by 5.8 per cent and in the metal industry by 9.3 per cent.

 The index of new orders in manufacturing describes development in the value of new orders received by enterprises for commodities and services that are meant to be produced by establishments located in Finland.

The statistics are based on non-probability sampling, in which the basic observation unit is an enterprise or a kind-of-activity unit.
