Watching programmes on tablet computers and smart phones is becoming more prevalent at the expense of traditional television watching.
 
Nearly a million Finns watch programmes on mobile devices every week.
 
The number of strictly traditional television viewers has decreased by 400,000, found a survey commissioned by a consultancy firm, Prior Konsultointi Oy.
 
The use of mobile devices to watch programmes by the group of people over the age of 50 has especially increased.
 
About one in six person over 50-65 year watch programmes on mobile devices at least once in a week.
 
Short videos were found to the most popular across all age groups. However, on the wider scale the mobile devices are used to watch the same programmes as traditional television.
 
The data was gathered by Cint in July-August via an online panel maintained by the company.
 
The survey saw the participation of 1,300 respondents between the ages of 15 and 75 who used the Internet.
