Lauri Lyly, the president of the Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions-SAK on Wednesday dismissed reports alleging ongoing discussions regarding a solution to replace the failed social contract negotiations.

The rumour on the negotiations does not hold water, Lyly tweeted.

The same message was relayed to the news agency STT by Sture Fjäder, the president of Akava.

According to an earlier report by the regional news consortium Lännen Media, labour organisations and the trade union leadership will negotiate on offering the government the option of halving the holiday pay, if the government decides to abandon mandatory legislative measure.

The report said the labour organisation camp expressed readiness to accept halving of holiday pay as part of reducing unit labour costs by five per cent.

According to the same report, the labour organisations’ top most leadership discussed the possibility of offering regular working hour extensions.

Finance Minister Alexander Stubb in an interview with the national broadcaster Yle on Monday said the government is ready to accept an alternative package as long as the five per cent requirement on reduction of unit labour cost is met.
