Tue, 15 Sep, 2015 02:02:02 AM FTimes- STT Report, Sep 15 EK director Ilkka Oksala. File Photo Lehtikuva. The Confederation of Finnish Industries-EK has criticised the planned demonstration by members of trade unions.
EK said the planned demonstration on Friday by members of trade unions proves that the union leaders do not understand the huge economic difficulties being faced by the country.
“Taking this kind of action seriously jeopardises Finland's attractiveness as an investment destination and Finnish work places,” EK director Ilkka Oksala said.
According to EK estimate, the value of Friday-the planned day of the demonstration-to the Finnish economy is euro 700 million.
The value is obtained by dividing the Gross Domestic Product by the number of days in a year.
According to Oksala, it is impossible at this stage to appraise how big the damage the Friday's demonstration will pose to the economy.
“That can be influenced by every Finnish employee by going to work. The more the workers are way to work, the more this 700 million will be cut,” Oksala told news agency STT.
It is difficult to predict how big the demonstration will be in terms of employee participation since trade unions announcements have been considerably varying, Oksala said.
For instance, Workers Transport Union-AKT and the Finnish Paper Workers' Union have announced quite accurately on their participation, however, vast majority of unions have made inaccurate announcements.
