Nearly all Finns deem collection of taxes important for sustenance of the society, found a research by the Finnish Tax Administration.

An overwhelming majority (96%) believe taxation is important. Furthermore, three out four respondents felt they get value for money by paying taxes.

Paying taxes was considered more gratifying when the tax payer know the participation of others is ensured.

Just under half of the respondents (48%) believe the tax authorities treat all equally.

Willingness to pay taxes and the feeling of gratification in paying taxes grow with the increase of age, since respondents over the age of 65 showed a more positive attitude towards paying taxes.

The common frustrated tax payers were entrepreneurs and farmers.

The survey was conducted by TNS Gallup through computer-assisted telephone calls in June. The respondents were slightly over a thousand.
