Local government employees believe sectoral divergence must be considered in the possible joint proposal on improvement of competitiveness by labour market organisations, reported Finnish commercial broadcaster MTV.
The director of labour market at Local Government Employers-KT Markku Jalonen told MTV that the recommendation is necessary since different sectors have a variety of working-hours systems.
Similarly, cost effects such as slashing of holiday bonus would be varied in different sectors.
The CEO of Confederation of Finnish Industries-EK Jyri Häkämies proposed sectoral variation among the range of measures during the national broadcaster Yle Saturday morning programme.
Riku Aalto, the chair of Metalworkers’ Union, however, termed Häkämies proposal difficult to implement and control because the industry has different contracts and companies which are in different situations.
