People with foreign background were found often to be employed in the cleaning industry, according to Statistics Finland.
 
In 2013, the cleaning industry had a total of 9,700 employees with foreign background, which is a fifth of the total employment in the industry.
 
Restaurant activities and construction followed the cleaning industry in terms of employing people with foreign background.
 
There were nearly 115,000 employed people with foreign background in 2013. The number of employed persons with foreign background grew by nearly 32,000 in five years.
 
On the other hand, the number of employed persons with Finnish background declined by around 107,400 over the same period.
 
More than half of the people with foreign background were working in Uusimaa region.
 
Nearly 45 percent of employed person in the cleaning industry in Uusimaa were of foreign background.
