The premier made the remarks while making an address in parliament on the government’s top priority areas and the reforms.
The problems faced by the country are of a scale which compels the government to be more goal-oriented than in the past.
The government will ensure the implementation of the top priority areas by actively monitoring and steering the strategy sessions about every two weeks.
Furthermore, the prime minister said the effectiveness of the projects will be monitored by indicators.
The government will spend about a billion euros in three years on the projects in its top priority areas. The biggest allocation totalling 300 million euros has been made in investment in expertise and education. A similar amount will go to bio-technology and clean energy solutions.
In addition, 600 million euros, which the Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) considers especially important, has been earmarked for rehabilitation of roads and pathways.
One of the objectives of the government is to digitalise the Finnish society.
Sinuhe Wallinheimo of the Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) in his address in parliament said it is important to ensure that digitalisation does not lead to internal tinkering within the government or scupper the slower schedules.
“Reaching this objective requires a strong political leadership,” Wallinheimo said.
