A total of 13,424 new motor vehicles were registered, of which 9,743 were automobiles and 8,513 passenger cars in September 2015, according to Statistics Finland.
 
First registrations decreased by 2.9 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.
 
The number of new passenger cars registered in September was 1.3 per cent up from the year before. The share of new diesel-driven passenger cars was 34.6 per cent as per the data based on the Vehicular and Driver Data Register of the Finnish Transport Safety Agency.
 
The numbers are exclusive of the vehicles on the Åland Islands.

A total of 132,865 vehicles were first registered in the January to September period of 2015. Compared to the year before, there was a decrease of 2.8 per cent, the statistics show.
 
The number of passenger cars first registered in the January to September period was 82,727, which is 0.4 per cent down from the year before.
 
The most common passenger car makes first registered in the January to September period were Volkswagen, Toyota and Skoda.
