The Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland) parliamentary group has proposed euro 743 million increase in the state budget expenditure with largest single investment to be in labour policies, education, infrastructure and development cooperation.

SDP would also invest in the fight against the grey economy.

SDP's state budget proposal is part of the party's alternative budget to be published in November.

According to chair of the party's parliamentary group, Antti Lindtman, the alternative budget would result to a lower debt level than the government's budget.

SDP would restore more than euro 160 million slashed from the labour market policies. SDP emphasised the importance of employment and equity.

The party deems cuts in education as the worst area where the government has acted in terms of growth.

The SDP parliamentary group believes the talk of creating growth is not credible when education cuts amount to billions.
