Niinistö visits planned Nuke project site
FTimes – STT Report, Oct 15

Power plants in Turkey is expected to carve opportunities for Finnish companies.

Energy investments in Turkey acted as incentive for the business delegation which accompanied President Saulu Niinistö during his ongoing visit to Turkey that began on Monday.

According to the Director General at Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority-STUK, Petteri Tiippana, the Finnish expertise is in demand because the planned nuclear power plants are similar to the one initiated by Fennovoima in Pyhäjoki and the Olkiluoto 3 nuclear power plant in Eurajoki.

The goal is also to conclude a consultancy agreement which STUK has, for instance, struck with Saudi Arabia.

Currently there is no single nuclear power in existence in Turkey, but there are two projects ongoing.

Turkey and Russia have concluded an agreement for Rosatom to set up a nuclear power plant in southern Turkey in addition to an ongoing joint project by Japan and France on the shores of Black Sea.
