The Ministry of Employment and the Economy on Monday said organisations now can apply for grants for immigrants’ integration.

The government has allocated 800,000 euros for the integration fund and has issued a deadline of four weeks for application for grants.

The ministry said organisations provide important integration support alongside the authorities.

“Their work is particularly important in those areas where reception centres are situated and where the number of immigrants is huge or is growing fast,” the ministry said in a media release.

The grants will be directed to established nationwide organisations which help in the integration of immigrants. The nationwide organisations in turn can support local associations.

It is estimated that about 30,000 asylum seekers will arrive in the country this year.
