According to the survey, on an average every Finn will spend slightly over 500 euros this year.
About 300 euros will go to the gifts and about 200 euros will be used for other preparations.
The Finnish Christmas budget will remain unchanged for the first time after two years of drop.
In recent years, the amount spent on gifts and other Christmas preparations has decreased by an average 20-30 euros a year.
An increasing number of people are planning to buy gifts online.
“Over 40 per cent of the respondents are planning to buy gifts online. This proportion [of online buyers] has grown bigger than those who do not plan to buy any gift online [34 per cent],” said Nordea economist Olli Kärkkäinen in a statement.
Most of the online buyers hail from the eastern part of the country and the least from western Finland.
Chocolates and other confectionery, clothes and books are the most popular Christmas gifts, even though their share has fallen slightly.
“The popularity of the so-called experience gifts such as service vouchers, theatre and concert tickets has grown since last year,” said Kärkkäinen.
Under the survey, around a thousand respondents between 18 and 65 years were interviewed by TNS Gallup.
