Low-fare bus service operator OnniBus has acquired Åbus intercity coach brand from Leiniön Liikenne Oy, said a press release.

According to OnniBus, the acquisition enables major improvement in the intercity coach services between Helsinki and Turku region – the busiest intercity coach route in Finland.

The current networks of OnniBus.com and Åbus will be combined in a restructured service that increases the services between Turku city centre and Helsinki by 27 weekly round trips and the services between Helsinki and Raisio by 25 weekly round trips.

In addition, the new services will connect the city of Naantali to Helsinki two-hourly with 47 new weekly services.

Also the number of fast connections increases as the new hourly service between Helsinki and Turku will drive through Meilahti and will be non-stop between Espoo and Turku.
