Suomen Lähikauppa, the parent company of Siwa and Valintatalo said students will receive a five per cent discount on food items and a 15 per cent discount on non-food items from Siwa and Valintatalo. The discount is being offered in coordination with the student discount advocates Frank, which advances the interests of a large segment of students in Finland. “We wondered how we could be more involved in students’ lives, when they need to start an independent life, yet at the same time, money is tight,” said Suomen Lähikauppa Senior Marketing Manager Satu Puumala. Puumala expressed the hope that the discounts will draw more students to Siwa and Valintatalo stores. Puumala said students usually buy basic foods, such as dry porridge, flour and canned food. “I also believe that sandwiches, smoothies and other snacks is also a big seller,” said Puumala. The discounts do not apply to alcohol, tobacco or baby formula. More News
